The Widower

Finished reading this over the weekend in Ktn.

i much preferred the previous book/sequel which is Love Life though ;-)

i guess the main point of the story is that some times when you are too busy looking for something meaningful such as love or soul so far out from reach or to the distance, you may never know as the thing that you really are looking for may jsut be someone next to you or something that you have already owned, its just that you may have to look a litle bit deeper and to hear your own thoughts more often than not.

i think life can be of a simple nature if we chose that to be.

Vamos Nadal!!!

The gold medal was the first ever for Spain in Olympic tennis.

Nadal was already assured of taking over the No. 1 ranking Monday for the first time, ending Roger Federer's reign after 4 1/2 years. Nadal has won 38 of his past 39 matches, including victories over Federer in the finals at the French Open and Wimbledon.

Elena Dementieva earned the gold in women's singles, taking advantage of 17 double-faults by fellow Russian Dinara Safina to win 3-6, 7-5, 6-3.

In women's doubles, Venus and Serena Williams of the United States won the gold, beating Anabel Medina Garrigues and Virginia Ruano Pascual of Spain 6-2, 6-0. The sisters celebrated with shrieks, then shared a hug.

Men's singles has traditionally been an upset-filled event at the Olympics, and Nadal is the first player ranked in the top five to win the gold.

He took charge against Gonzalez from the start, breaking serve in the second game. Nadal didn't face any break points until the 12th game of the second set, when he was down 5-6, 15-40.

Gonzalez failed to convert the set points, pushing a volley wide and putting a forehand in the net. The Chilean made five unforced errors in the tiebreaker to give Nadal a commanding lead.

Nadal ripped a backhand passing shot to break at love for a 3-1 lead in the final set, and erased two more break points to hold for 5-2.

He needed four match points to close out the victory, ripping one last forehand that Gonzalez barely could reach. Nadal collapsed to his back in jubilation.

Congratulations Lee Chong Wei!!!!

BEIJING: Lee Chong Wei won the silver medal in the badminton men's singles after losing in the final to China’s Lin Dan 12-21, 8-21.

The world No 2 lost in two straight sets, faltering to Lin Dan, who remains the top men’s singles shuttler in the world.

In previous clashes between the two, Lin Dan had won nine times while Chong Wei had won five times.

The last time a Malaysian shuttler won a medal at the Olympics was in Atlanta in 1996 when Rashid Sidek took the bronze in the men’s singles and Cheah Soon Kit-Yap Kim Hock won the silver for the men’s doubles.

Rashid’s brothers Razif and Jailani won Malaysia’s first Olympic medal in Barcelona, Spain, in 1992 when they won a bronze in the men’s doubles.

Chong Wei got to the final by beating South Korean Lee Hyun-il, 21-18, 13-21, 21-13, while Lin Dan defeated fellow countryman Chen Jin in the semi-final, 21-12 , 21-18.

Despite failing to get the gold medal, Chong Wei is set to obtain RM300,000 from the Government for winning the silver medal. The Government had promised RM1mil as an incentive to any athlete who returns with an Olympic gold medal; RM300,000 for silver and RM100,000 for bronze.

P/S: i think Lee Chong Wei could have done better as i have seen him played better than he did last nite. maybe lady luck wasnt around yesterday ;-(. but of course, kudos to him !!!!! you go LEE!!!!

Update....

i know i havent been updating my blog for awhile now. it is sad if i give busy as an excuse, but to be honest, it is the exact thing that is happening.

hours, days ....flies like nobody business for me this year. i see it as a good and a bad thing though. good in the sense that i dont really have time to think abt the unimportant things or problems in my life. bad in the sense that i dont even go back to Ktn as much as i want to, or stay longer perhaps an extra day or two. i even wish that i can even go to Cherating with my family to have a Sunday picnic. mama cooking nasi lemak or my nasi ayam, you know then we hit the beach and just go picnic. i miss that, i miss the time when i was young and we always have time for a picnic. at that time, i also have my sister around, so yeah...perhaps i miss her, perhaps i miss her company.

workwise, the load itself is a challenge, not to mention the fact that i have to prove to myself that i can be a superwoman and do everything. recently i even got scolded by the Chairman of the company asking me to get me an extra pair of hands to help and assist me during this chaotic period and madness. i quickly obliged yesterday to request one from the Human Resource as my CEO has again reminded me over time.

i also havent got the extra time to go over and pick my new korean drama to watch. oh how i miss the drama and the teary scene that i can share with the characters in it.

whatever it is, i know i need and want to go for a family holiday. i want to spent the time doing nothing with my family, just eat and talk to each other, feeling the closeness. i hope that i can do it after raya. based on my schedule that may not be happening but i shall hope that i can squeeze the time.

VAMOS RAFA! THE NEW WIMBLEDON CHAMPION!!!!!!

it was the best match ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nadal dethrones Federer at Wimbledon
By STEPHEN WILSON – 1 day ago

WIMBLEDON, England (AP) — Rafael Nadal ended Roger Federer's five-year reign at Wimbledon on Sunday, winning a riveting, five-set marathon to claim his first title at the All England Club and signal a changing of the guard in men's tennis.

Nadal held off a stirring comeback by Federer from two sets down to prevail 6-4, 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-7 (8), 9-7. He became the first man to win the French Open and Wimbledon in the same year since Bjorn Borg in 1980.

Nadal, the first Spaniard to win Wimbledon since Manolo Santana in 1966, avenged his losses to Federer in the last two finals here and snapped the Swiss star's All England Club winning streak at 40 matches and overall grass-court run at 65.

The rain-delayed match ended in near darkness after 4 hours, 48 minutes of play — the longest men's final in Wimbledon history — when Federer slapped a forehand into the net on Nadal's fourth match point and second of the game.

Nadal fell onto his back in exhilaration at the baseline. With his shirt caked with turf, he congratulated Federer and climbed into the players' box to embrace his entourage. He had tears in his eyes as he grabbed a Spanish flag and walked across the television commentators' booth to the edge of the Royal Box to shake hands with Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Spain.

"It's impossible to explain what I felt in that moment," Nadal said after receiving the winner's trophy from the Duke of Kent. "Just very, very happy to win this title. For me, (it) is a dream to play in this tournament. But to win, I never imagined something like this."

Federer, who converted only one of 13 break points in the match, fell short in his bid to set two landmarks: He failed to surpass Bjorn Borg by winning a sixth consecutive title or equal Willie Renshaw's record of six in a row from 1881-86.

"I tried everything," Federer said. "Rafa is a deserving champion. He just played fantastic. It was the worst opponent on the best court."

Nadal won his fifth Grand Slam title, adding to his four consecutive French Open championships. Federer, meanwhile, remains two shy of Pete Sampras' record of 14 Grand Slam wins.

"He's still No. 1," Nadal said. "He's still the best. He's still five-time champion here and I only have one, so for me it is very, very important."

Watching it all from the front row of the Royal Box was the silver-haired Borg, who won 41 straight Wimbledon matches during his 1976-80 title runs.

As Nadal and Federer battled through the fifth set in fading light, they were like two heavyweights going toe-to-toe in the late rounds of a title fight. The intensity and quality of the match recalled the 1980 final between Borg and John McEnroe, which the Swede won in the fifth set after losing an 18-16 tiebreaker.

McEnroe, a three-time Wimbledon champion and a television commentator at this tournament, called Sunday's final the "greatest match I've ever seen."

Nadal, who has won 24 straight matches, extended his career record against Federer to 11-6, but it was only his third win in six against him on a surface other than clay. Nadal had lost in the last two Wimbledon finals to Federer.

Sunday's epic victory was Nadal's second straight over Federer in a Grand Slam final — and this time on the champion's favorite court and surface. Nadal crushed Federer in last month's French Open final, losing only four games.

Federer, playing in his 16th Grand Slam final, had reached this title match without dropping a set but ran into a player who muscled him around the court for the first two sets with his punishing topspin forehand and refused to buckle in the face of an amazing comeback.

Federer, who saved two match points in the fourth set tiebreaker, came oh-so-close to becoming the first player to overcome a two-set deficit in a Wimbledon men's final since 1927, when Henri Cochet beat Jean Borotra.

Federer also nearly became the first man in 60 years to win the title after saving a match point in the final — Bob Falkenburg beat John Bromwich in 1948 after saving three match points at 3-5 in the fifth set.
